Bayshore Village has been designed with rain water harvesting, recycling and efficiency to save 23,000 litres of water  from the town water supply each day.  The residential component of the development will use 60% less water than a conventional development and emit 50% less CO2, which exceeds the 40% reduction for both required by BASIX.

Using rainwater tanks; vegetated areas to move stormwater, limit discharge and allow infiltration; and trenches to treat stormwater on site, the site has been designed to replicate the quality and quantity of stormwater that occurred on the site before development.

The design also collects and reuses roof water. The roofwater reticulation system will be supported by rainwater tanks connected to each building, feeding back through to buildings for hot water and laundry use.
