Planning Process

The development complies with local planning instruments and policies. The proposed development is permissible in the current zoning and consistent with the objectives of the zoning.

Compliance has been achieved with:

  • the Draft Local Environmental Plan (LEP) for the Byron Bay Shire LGA;
  • the Bayshore Village Development Control Plan (specifically developed for this site as required by the LEP);
  • the Byron Bay Council Cultural Policy;
  • Byron Shire Council Social Plan 2004 – 2009;
  • Byron Shire Affordable Housing Strategy for Urban Areas;
  • Social Impact Assessment Policy.

A Development Application (DA) is currently on exhibition. This document is the next step to realise development of Bayshore Village.

The DA incorporates the principles and results of a site-specific Development Control Plan (DCP) which has been developed by Council and a Statement of Environmental Effects (SEE) which demonstrates that the development addresses environmental issues on the site.
